Tramadol for Premature Ejaculation
An article came out of Nigeria where a pharmacist, Clever Okeke, recommends against using Tramadol recreationally for getting high or delaying ejaculation. Most of the article is about using the drug for its euphoric effects but I found it interesting that its use for delaying ejaculation is common enough to mention it. In the US, I doubt that Tramadol is so easy to obtain but it is an opiod so who knows? I’ve never heard it mentioned along with oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, and morphine as commonly abused opiods.
Until new technology desensitizing sprays appeared on the market the past several years, Tramadol was commonly prescribed by doctors in the US for premature ejaculation as many doctors believed that it was a safer alternative to SSRIs. Regardless, using Tramadol recreationally to delay ejaculation is big mistake in my opinion. If you have Subjective Premature Ejaculation, try a delay spray. If you have Lifelong Premature Ejaculation and typically last less than one minute, you should see a sexual medicine specialist. Read about the 4 types of premature ejaculation.
How Tramadol works to delay ejaculation is not well understand. Some experts believe that it reduces serotonin levels in the brain as a side effect and that’s the primary mechanism.
